Yes. Moving to another country, particularly if you don't have a pre-arranged job, is a huge step. I remember thinking 'am I crazy? should I just go and ask for my old job back?' several times in the last week or two before I landed.
At the end of the day, the worst that's likely to happen is you try Canada for a few months and then go back. That's an expensive holiday, but better than never going and spending the rest of your life wondering what would have happened if you did.

I hear ya missieleah!! Im moving to Calgary in two weeks and it just hit me two days ago... butterflies is a understatement. Im so nervous...I feel like throwing up... I already lived there for three years too so I should not be feeling this!
But as Mark mentioned, he is spot on. It did not work out for me for paperwork reasons. I ended up coming back in March 2011(and now im going back!). Thats the worst that can happen really, you just come back. I had the same questions back in 2007, should I go, should I stay. I would not change my decision. After living there, it really opened my eyes.
After speaking to several expats there. They agreed that it takes around 2 years + to adjust. But it varies on the self.
My own personal experience, first year was hell. Second year was mixed. Third year was 'no way im moving back to the UK'. I loved it.

Is it normal? Some doubts are probably inevitable I would say, but how serious they are really depend on why you find yourself telling him you dont want to go.

Absolutely - I love it here but still have days where I think "what have I done?"
What's the worst that can happen? you go back to the UK? no biggie... at least you can say you've tried...

Yeah... its probably just the pressure this end! I think its more the moving 4 kids and having no support network (not that I have a major one here)... its more like the "where I hang my hat thing"... but I'm sure I'll find somewhere else to hang my hat!
We have our house listed on a website with an estate agent and there are cars blatently pulling up at our gate and taking pictures... i sware, its like "can u not wait until we're xxxking gone or at least until I'm not having a day full of wobbles!!!"

Hi Missieleah, I recently posted a very similar thread and got really good and encouraging responses. What came out from all of them is that the way we're feeling at the moment is absolutely normal. The main thing is to support each other as a family because, as you say, initially it's just going to be you, your partner and your children. I know it's difficult, but that's what I keep saying to myself. And you're all in it together, most likely going through the same emotions. Good luck!

Hi ya. I know exactly how you feel. Was in the same boat before we left. With me it was the stress of everything falling into place at the right time. We didnt have much time to organise stuff as we got LMO in January and moved at the end of March!!!
Been here almost 6 months and so far loved it
.
As the others already said, if you dont like it you can always go back.

I'm sure whatever you decide to do, you'll be okay in the end!! It's all baby steps in the beginning....you'll have a mixture of emotions and all of them are 'normal'. Good luck to you! May your future be wonderful
