Excellent start up at Cypress this weekend. Great coverage on the piste and fantastic blue-sky afternoon to go with it, hard to believe that it was still mid-November!

Went to Nakiska on Saturday. The conditions were quite bad. I have to say that otherwise it means that I was responsible for the fall that knackered my knee :p

Then we all went to Nakiska on Saturday. It was bitterly cold, especially up the Gold chair. Didn't see you fall, AC, but heard a ski patroller's radio describe a likely broken leg... hope that wasn't you. |

I was at Sunshine on Friday - a power cut meant only Wawa lift was running first thing in the morning, and Standish a bit later. Wolverine was also open, but it was a right cross-country slog to get there. Snow was in great condition, just needs a bit more of it.

Didn't see you fall, AC, but heard a ski patroller's radio describe a likely broken leg... hope that wasn't you. I was exiting the Gold Chair and taking the quick way down to the start of the one and only run that was open for non international racers, rather than the more leisurely hairpin route. As soon as I began my first turn on it, my downhill ski hit an icy patch and I fell over, I then went shooting down it backwards in a female "doggie style" (sorry can`t think of any other way to describe it) on my knees with my feet dorsi flexed (for all the swimmers out there) and my skies on their edge, flat on the ground, touching at the back and outside of my hands at the front. I didn`t think I was going to stop on the trail and was going to pitch over and down the run. Luckily I stopped, but it shot my knee for the rest of the day. Luckily it doesn`t feel too bad today, so I will be back there next weekend. |
Re: Possible Vintage Ski Year in BC
Sorry to hear about knee AC.
We haven't started the season yet, but start in earnest on 4th Dec. We will be at Nakiska pretty much every saturday until April. Doing a full weekend a month at Sunshine and a full weekend a month at Nakiska. If anyone wants to meet up for a coffee and a chinwag about ski injuries let me know! |
