Nice to see the base at whistler get started. More than compensates for the fact that it's been pissing it down a lot today.

Nakiska is hoping to be the first resort opened in Canada this year. They were aiming for Oct 30. I have never skied or fallen on a board in Oct before. Bring it on

I'll be happy with November or December. Just so long as it's good - last year turned out OK at whistler, but only late on. Though there was one day when there had been a big dump of snow, the bottom of the peak-to-creek was roped off - I asked the ski patrol why and they said it wasn't pisted or patrolled, but it was open if we wanted to ski it (everyone else must have assumed it was shut). 2 foot of fresh untracked powder all the way down - great! More of that please.

Am hoping when I look at the N shore mountains tomorrow there will be snow . . .Grind is shut!

Vintage skiing... visions of wooly sweaters and straight sided skis perhaps?

Only if you dont want to go round corners, or fancy yourself the next Eddie the Eagle
Ive only ever skied parabolics, so I should probably shut up now, before the more experienced skiers chip in

1987 Völkl Renntiger "R"s, as straight and skinny as you like, and a mighty 205cm long.
Getting them to turn at anything less than top speed was... "challenging".
Happy days.

Were they that same fetching 1980s dayglow yellow too? Scary, on many fronts!
205? Thats a ski jump ski isnt it!
