Seems the Abbotsford, BC police department might have more problems then realized. When living out there people always talked about police corruption, but most wrote those folks off as being "quacks" but seems that there might have been some truth.
17 officers under investigation with 1 being charged. Apparently 8% of the police force according to the radio this morning.

This isn't some big massive city either, 130,000 ish or so people.

Interesting...
sounds like the police chief is defending them, of course.

The city should really remove the chief from his position and bring in someone completely not related to the department or city to clean house, and then hire a new chief.

8% being investigated eh. I don't really have a problem with this, there are bad eggs about, that will be the guy being charged, however, if a fellow officer or a member of the public makes an allegation, to keep public confidence in the police, it must be investigated thoroughly, imagine if it was not? It would leave the public with no confidence in the police and the start of anarchy. You can be investigated and found to be completely innocent! Just remember, there are nutters throwing around all kinds of allegations, each has to be investigated. Ps, I am not or have ever been a policeman, nor do I have any connection to the police, I do respect them and think they have an impossible job.

it comes from the top. unfortunately with what's come out over RCMP treatment of women in their ranks, and the missing women scandal, I no longer have faith in their leadership. I'm sure there's more to come out.

Abby police have had issues in the past, I doubt this is going to be a one off thing, and the feds are now doing an investigation as well.

Corruption will keep coming around, the way to deal with it to stamp on it, not ignore it. It will keep coming back, when there is wrong, stamp it out

Very little faith in Canadian police period. It seems to be a very different ethos to policing in Britain.
