A Husky crossed with something else called Cricket - named by the Calgary Humane society,

I started to explain that I had spent the last 20+ years playing 'cricket' and the girls eyes glazed over....then she quickly changes the subject with a "shall we fill the in paperwork then sir?" :frown:

Our (Scottish) Ragdoll cat is called Lucy (or Lulu) - her pedigree name chosen by the breeder is 'Cattitude Lady Madonna'. Her brother is called 'Cattitude Johnny be Good' and now lives in Inverness.

Our (Canadian) Soft Coated Irish Wheaten Terrier is called Toby (or The Tobster or Tobe) - pedigree name is Toby Caledonia. We almost named him Pedro which would suit him too :)

We have 2 cats - they came to us already named as Bailey and Chloe. Bailey was the female one, Chloe the male ...

So we renamed him Joey. Fortunately it was similar enough to his previous name that he didn't seem to mind

Hmm, sofa that dog is not supposed to be sitting on. Really comfortable and it was the best of the selection on offer......

Previous pets have been

Radar - horse - came with the name - left with my boot up its arse

Elvis - cat - came with the name - left with a wheel mark over his head

Onion - ferret - my idea for the name - gave it away cos i got bored (as you do as a kid)

Leroy - budgie - I named him after one of the Fame characters - died after being put in the oven and then strangled.

Gucci - deaf white cat - i named him - died, another victim of a large tire

Armani - cat - i named him to go with the above - died from a gun shot by a game keeper

And a few more with equally random names and untimely demises

oh lets not start the how did yr pet die again - I only have 1 small rodent that died of natural causes in our houselhold!

Okay pets we have now:

Lola : the Goldendoodle, FB name "showgirl Lola" as in her name was Lola she was a showgirl etc etc

Bam Bam : Staffie X English Bull, name from the Flintstones AKA "The Bamster" or just "The Bam" FB name is "Viva La Bam".

Snape the corn snake (how I am going to get him across the pond I dont know!!) named by a 7yr old.

We used to have a cat called "Pusscilla" she was ginger like cilla black and a cat and then the name kinda makes sense.

Recently departed are "Thing 1 and Thing 2" our fancy rats, wont have any more rats till we are in BC, bit sad about that!!

My boyfriend had a hamster called "Pony", (I quite like that) and I had a hamster called "Houdini" for obvious reasons.

Other dogs we have had Rosie, Belle, Emo, Tug (aka Thug) Sadie, Martha and Jennie.

I had a tortoise when I was little and called it hoppy, my sisters didn't have a name. One year they just didn't wake up:(

I had a hamster that my Mum named bouffles.

Later on I had two tunisian tortoises called Fatima and Ali Baba.

When we moved here we got some more torts and named them Starsky and Hutch - they now live the other side of Edmonton:(

We bought a little kitten and thought it was a female so we called it Hanna (Japanese for flower). However a few weeks later some things started to descend between its rear legs so he was renamed Hannaball.

We called our first chocolate lab Cookie. It seemed like a good idea until we went to a busy dog park a called COOKIE in a "come here" kind of voice.

I thought this thread would be a positive and inspiring experience but it seems to have descended into the morbid depths of a pet memorial service. I have no objections if someone else would like to start a pet remembrance thread but lets keep this one about the living.

We have a 3 year old cocker spaniel called Noah. He was named it when we got him at 9 weeks... and he seemed to respond to it already so we kept it!

Also we have a 1 year old golden retriever called Abby... no story behind the name, we had chosen Stella or Abby for her and when we saw photos of her before we collected her we decided she suited Abby.

My kids called them Oah and Abby-babby
