This is a new one, a new rental apartment in Vancouver is using one of those employment style personality tests to screen applicants. Haven't seen this sort of thing before.
Original post on reddit. and when I went to the website of the apartment and click on apply and yep its there, they are actually doing a personality test.
Wonder what the legality of this is?
I hate these tests with a passion and won't apply for jobs that do them as I can never pass them so its a waste of time, and I personally would never take one for housing, seems this world is getting weirder by the day, at some point unless you meet a specific personality you won't be able to not just work, but also won't find housing....

That's insane...I would see that as a red flag and definitely not even bother to apply to live there. Same really with any job. Look at my resume and see if my skills and experience fit what you want. I feel like employers who do that are the kind with a large amount of corporate politics and bureaucracy and micromanagement and that's not really a healthy workplace imo.

Call one of them up and insist that the landlord and property manager take an MMPI and say it's because you've had some unstable landlords in the past and don't want to take a chance on a repeat.

The story has a bit more to it now, and it appears the owner of the building in question has decided to cut ties with the company because of the heat. Amazing what a post on reddit can lead to.. Right now if you got to the Brixton Flats website and click application it says this. "We are currently revising our application forms. Please check back in 24 hours. We apologize for any inconvenience."
It now also has gotten the premier and leader of the green party issuing statements because of their brief meeting with the tech company at a tech show.
