I discovered over the weekend that my garage door wasn't locked. I have the only key and I hadn't tried it since last summer. We never lock the inside door. Essentially, my house hasn't been locked for a year. I'm amazed I haven't been burgled or murdered.

Nah. It's just rather peaceful and safe around here. Strangers also stick out a mile. A crescent off a crescent off a cul-de-sac doesn't really attract outsiders.
