I don't intend to delete it, rather to try and explain a bit to a few people whom may not realise what the issue is/was.

The decision to have a certain forum name added to the filter list was taken by Sue, and if you wish to question what I'm going to say here can you please take it up with her by pm or email, as I am just quoting her advice to the Mods. Please don't debate it on here or the posts will probably be removed.

The owner/admin of the other site was encouraging people to "spam" BE, to
add his site to their signatures, and to pass the word around about his "new" site via posts and pms. BE does not and never did feel "threatened" by this, as has been alleged in places, it is just that to use BE in such an underhand way in order to promote and encourage members for the other site is not on. All the expat fora can co-exist quite happily, there is enough room in the big wide cyber-world for all of us. Many of us are members of more than one forum, and that isn't a problem. The only problem is when underhand methods are being used to promote another forum. BE would not go to another site and do it, therefore we expect the same consideration in return :)

And I think this weekend's pub crawl has shown that we can all get along side by side quite happily :) :beer:
