The Globe and Mail tells us that the Prime Minister is safe. That of course was my main worry.

Re: Ottawa shootings

A parliamentary guard was wounded as well, the soldier who was guarding the cenotaph is dead of his wounds, and the status of the shooter is being withheld (though rumoured earlier as being shot dead).

He's dead? I'll stop being flippant then.

Reporting that there are multiple shooters, war memorial, parliament and Rideau shopping centre. Situation is being described as fluid and the area is in in lockdown.

They cancelled Malala's citizenship ceremony, I'll take that as 'postponed'. I'd put money on the centre block intruder being dead too and not wounded; enough people who were in there said so.

No official statement yet on the status of anybody who was shot. Unconfirmed reports that the Centre Block shooter is dead (shot by the Sergeant-at-Arms); and that the soldier (a reservist from Hamilton) has died of his wounds. The latter news was tweeted from the Conservatives caucus room, so may yet be nothing more than a rumour - but I can't imagine why an MP would say such a thing without good cause.

Nothing confirmed either way.

Lots of rumour, few facts.

I hope the soldier is OK, but the information leaking out seems bleak.

Yesterdays atrocity was bad enough.

Top marks for shooting the shooter dead. Decisive action.

Extraordinary video of that from a Globe & Mail reporter who was in the lobby at the time.

I hope they catch the other gits and throw them away for ever! It's like the fanatical terrorists of the 70's all over again!

Saying the report about the shopping centre was erroneous.
