Default Orphan kitten a few days old - what to do?

I found a newborn dead kitten on my porch today and then just spotted a weak, cold kitten in the middle of the back yard crawling in the grass - no sign of mother.

So.. I bought it in (it was very cold in the wind) but have no idea what to do with it.

Suggestions?

Keep it warm, bottle feed it. Call the vets to ask what to feed it.

Think of it as a mysterious birthday gift.

Hope you've had a good one.

I have it in a box with a blanket (after cuddling it to warm it up a bit).. have called a cat rescue place and hope they will take it (if it survives the night).

Call the local animal shelter/humane society. They will help you with the situation. Good luck.

They kill kittens, they don't have the time to hand feed.

I just spotted what 'could' be the mother in the back garden so have taken the kitten and put it in a sheltered spot (in a low box) and will see if she rescues it.

Good luck. I wasn't suggesting that you take the kitten to them. I have always found the Humane Society to be very helpful when needing advice in a situation like yours.

Panic over, kitten no longer in box (though I could hear it crying) and black cat was under hedge so I think she must have taken it - I just hope that was it's mother!

Thanks for all the advice.. much appreciated.
