OMG MOOSE!

3 Attachment(s)
I opened the front door to see a MOOSE in the front garden. How COOL is that, so excited, not seen one so close or with antlers before, little bit scared about taking the dog for a walk now, we'll just have to keep a look out and move off the other way I suppose.

Super exciting (especially when your not feeling well)

They are colour blind, so the red is no prob. However, don't make sounds like a female in heat. That could get his attention toot de sweet!

I noticed that as well....

The other thing I noticed is the phlem coloured fire hydrant in the 1st photo...whats with that.

How close are you to the natural habitat of a moose...deep woods etc.

Awesome photos. I was chuffed the first time I saw wild moose (what's the plural!?) in Alberta :)

Great pics by the way. We've had deer in front of our house but never a moose.

Ditto to your photos PP.

I wouldn't say there are any deep woods in Red Deer, we have wooded areas and down by the river moose are occasionally sighted but not where we are - a couple of blocks from the mall.

YAY the sun is shining and it's warm enough for the front door to be open:thumbsup::thumbsup: I might have to pop another $10 in the Spitfire and use it for another week.

Apparently that was the baby moose. DD saw the Daddy once she was safely on the bus on the way to school, she said it was massive and the Antlers were twice the size of the one we saw. She also said it was really really close to the girl standing waiting for the bus:eek:

I shan't tell him about that one unless you want a sniper on your roof

Unusual that they would wander into the city though - I'd crap myself if I saw one in our front garden - and thats an understandable location!!!!!!

So jealous PP

Great pictures, we have had deer on the front lawn, ground hogs and skunks under the shed.

The big OMG was found this week as we walked through our wooded area between our house and the one behind. We found about 6 piles of bear poop in various stage of aging! It seems we have a regular visitor coming around.

That answers that question...does a bear defaecate in the woods and all that. Although perhaps not all. Now back to the mini moose sighting.....

Lucky you and fab pics too! I've only see moose from afar; never that close.

On the subject of moose, is it true that their eyes don't reflect in vehicle headlights or is someone just telling me a big fat fib?

Amazing pics Piff! I had two run across the road in front of me near home not so long ago - ******' HUGE they were. Then they went down the road and through our yard but I didn't have a camera handy at the time :(

Also had a herd of cows wander through the garden one night, but that's another story...

Edit: LOL, I only said f-e-c-k-i-n' up ^there, honest.

So are you going to keep watch to see the bear or just monitor the deposits?

Great pictures, not seen a moose yet, something to look forward to.
I have seen my first bear this week, thats because we have moved to the west coast of the island for the winter months to caretake a marina. Bear poop not far from the door step this morning.

Hey I'm not saying it was 10' but it was bigger than me - anyhow, size really doesn't matter when it's in your front garden and the 1st one you've seen up close:thumbsup::thumbsup:

He was strolling around the neighbouring subdivision last night around 7pm so he didn't get far, bless 'im he must be a little worried about the cars etc, I just hope he gets to where he wants to go without getting hurt.

I saw a chihuahua piss on the floor in the hallway between the underground parking garage and the elevators in our apartment building. It was at least 5 inches tall.
