I never see Canadians or Americans for that matter, dunking their biscuits, I've seen a few tossing their cookies, boom boom. When you sit down for a meeting and start dunking away, you get some very funny looks. The worst bit and not meaning to sound like Peter Kay, is if you're in said meeting and a bit of the bisuit falls in, total shock goes through you as you try not to overtly panic but know you cannot ask for a spoon. It'd probably be like watching someone you like get executed, there's nothing you can do about it.

In North America, cookies are the size of dinner plates and coffee/tea cups all have stupid sippy-cup lids on them. How on earth can they be expected to know about the joys of dunking a ginger nut into a nice cup of Earl Grey?

If we have a meeting in the morning they do provide coffee but if its the afternoon, its always fruit juice and water. I have to bring my own cup of tea in with me. Still, our secretary or whatever her title is, gets those assorted tins of Swiss or Belgium biscuits from Costco and they're much more convenient for dunking. Plus, I like it when the chocolate on the outside starts to melt a bit.

I love dunking but hate it when the biscuit gets too soggy, breaks and falls into your tea!!!

The 'Cookie' style biscuit that's popular over here is quite bad for this.

Talking of biscuits, when I was ordering breakfast in a diner in Texas, the woman asked if I wanted biscuits, so I said yes please, as I was having tea too.

She brought me scones!!! I hate scones!

That is a beginners mistake. What you want to do is order those "biscuits" with extra sausage gravy and ask the waitress to get the cook to butter the biscuits first.

The Peek Freans they have here are disgusting. Too sweet and hard and they smell awful. I wouldn't bother.

here they call scones "English tea biscuits" . OH loves dunking his biscuits, I hate it when little bits float in my tea. Walmart in Carleton Place,ON has a nice selection of British food including all the biscuits and cheaper than the Brit/Scottish store.

I've started seeing McVities Chocolate (and dark chocolate) Digestives on shelves all around Vancouver. Love dunking them in my brew.

The McVities Digestive is the ultimate dunking biscuit IMHO. It absorbs the tea nicely, tastes delicious and one has to develop the skill of dunking just long enough to get maximum dunk value without going soggy or the dreaded biscuit failure and the ignomy of trying to fish a portion out of the hot tea with your fingers before it all turns to total mush. McVities digestives seem readily available in Dominion (Loblaws) stores around here. A passable local alternative is the Purity brand Gingersnap.
