OHIP Sucks

Free health care my arse. Son broke his foot at school.
$70 X-ray
$50 Crutches
$200 Leg brace, cast thing.
We borrowed the leg brace cast thing from a friend, but it would have cost 200. Make sure you have insurance with employer or it'll cost ya!
Rant Over!!!!!

($2500 for a simple break and cast, $50k+ for compund fractures and surgical pinning)If the Xray was done in the hospital it would have been free surely?
You missed the cost of an ambulance to get there

Better hope he doesnt need physio... that will usually cost you here too.

OHIP doesn't suck as far as I'm concerned. In the past 10 years I've had medical care costing hundreds of thousands, possible over one million dollars. The only cost to me directly was $45 for an ambulance, which I recovered from my employer coverage.
I don't understand the OP being charged for x-rays done in a hospital. I've had many done, all covered by OHIP.

Nothing's truly free is it? Even with a decent policy via my employer, I'm faced with consultation bills this week for a biomechanical analysis, physiotherapist appointment and medication my insurer won't cover, and which I had to stop taking after 2 days due to chronic side effects. It's very easy to face bills of several hundred dollars each month for ongoing treatments.

There's that 2 tier system in operation that Canadians insist that they don't have.

Nah, no charge for x-rays in hospital or clinic. Crutches yes. The NHS loans them out but no one ever returns them. You can have a plaster of Paris cast on OHIP but a fibre glass one costs more, as does a walking cast.
