Official Snow Report Thread
#1
Looking for reports on whether the snow at Lake Louise is any good yet as thinking I will go up this weekend and thought I would officialy start the official thread (I think if I put official in the title and lots in the post it makes it official)
So if you've been up to any hill then post a quick report on the snow for others, and if you're going you'll be able to see if it's going to be worth it.

No snow at all, not worth the travel. Next snow will occur during the Fall of 2009.
End of snow report.

Why bother with Lake Louise? I've got more snow than that on my front lawn.

Still tells me the same info that I can find on skilousy.com. What I want is the experience, like you telling me that your front lawn is looking good, though the fact that you've not yet opened your lifts yet is slightly worrying.

I wouldn't say it's looking good. I'd say it's looking like the Andes.

The problem I find is that the snow interferes with having a clear view from the car. It's tricky at junctions.

Yeah DBD, thanks for your kind offer, but I decided that rather than spend Christmas digging out your tractor type device, I would head up to Collingwood for a few drinks
and a spot of Chrimble cake

Nope. It was warmer yesterday so I rushed home hoping to try it while it wasn't too frozen. Alas two wankers in SUVs had a fifty dollar collision on the highway adding two hours to the journey so I was a bit late (*tangential rant follows). I took a longer run and got further up the hill but still slid back before reaching the crest. Attached pictures give an idea of the length and steepness of the lane, now it's covered in sheet ice, very difficult to walk up or down without snowshoes. (The hose, the original cause of all this trouble, has of course started working again!)
I've dumped a dustbin full of ash on the ice to no avail. If the chains don't come before the weekend I'll have to work something with a winch (or bite the bullet and fetch the man with a real tractor).
*tangential rant at Canadians - if you bang your Honda grey thing into his Toyota beige thing, no one cares, the world's better off without them and without you: get them off the road and squabble over your scratches from the ditch! If you're going to stop the traffic at least have a severed limb!

Feel free to drop in as you pass right by; we're near CR124 and CR17.
