Off on a trip today....
Hi all,
Well, just finished packing and time enough to drop a line on here. Were off today to Calgary for 2.5wks holiday/recee trip. Spending the first night in Calgary then up to Revelstoke to see how things are progressing on our building lot, hopefully the builder will have the ground workers setup for monday morning so we can finally start the new house.....
Then it's visit the friends we made last trip, go look for a car, temp accom whilst the house is being built and all those little things like..... kitchens, bathroom suites, taps, flooring etc etc etc.....
Did I say it was a holiday...
Only downer we have at present is that we still haven't received our PPR and CHC have had the med results for over 5 weeks now..... :curse: :curse:
Oh Well..... maybe they'll arrive whilst over there, have a relative checking the post every day !!!
Best of luck to all those waiting.... keep the PPR dancers working hard !!!
Cheers,
Andy & Jackie

Wow......what a trip to look forward to!
Getting a house built and no PPR.............I'd be for the looney bin by now.
We got our PPR yesterday, "luverly" brown envelope with the red CHC frank along the top!
So we sent the PPR dancers down south............so you never know!
Good luck and hope the trip goes well for you.

Re: Off on a trip today....
Hi all,
Arrived yesterday in Calgary to nice fine weather, overnited and collected our hire car (Ford Escape SUV) this morning. Had a nice drive up HW1 through Banff, Lake Louise (still skiing there !!) and into Revelstoke this afternoon. Wen't to visit our lot and ended up drinking coffee on our neighbours deck..... best welcome ever, got greated with 'Welcome home guys !!!'
Hopefully be starting work on the lot tomorrow with pegging the house out & digging a big hole for the foundation. Will try & post some pics if we can.
Also found out a lot the same size as ours is now almost 2.5 times what we paid 2yrs ago....
Cheers,
Andy & Jackie

Hi,
The lot is in Revelstoke it's self about 5/10 mins drive from the new ski hill development.
Just close enough to be 'local' but far enough away so we don't get all the traffic & associated noise etc.
Cheers,
Andy

Re: Off on a trip today....
Hi,
Have spent most of the last 2 days sorting the contract for building our new home. Had a big shock yesterday when we were told that there is now a $4k bill to be paid for 'community development fees' as part of the building permit costs. Bit miffed as it was introduced after we purchased our land but since we didn't register for a building permit at the time there isn't anything we can do about it. Only good point is were not the only ones being stung for it.....
On a plus point we now have a Telus pay 'as you go' mobile to make life easier here and we can go car shopping for when we land in July.
We've also met another half english couple moving to Revy from Kelowana and they only live a few mins from our lot, so our circle of friends is expanding very rapidly.
Off now to celibrate getting PPR......
Cheers,
Andy & Jackie

So happy for you, and really hope all goes to plan with the build.
THink we should start planning a whole visiting circle around all the ski resorts and interior summer resorts once we are all settled....
