More of a "when", but yes - ultimately that's it. OWS people can be bothered, but most people are like boiled frogs and don't care until it's too late.

The Occupy Vancouver protest decided to camp out in an Eastide park so they could engage with the 99%.
The 99% told them to **** off. |

As Occupy Vancouver is mostly homeless people from the DTES they could just go back and occupy some back alleys or shop door ways. Nobody would take out an injunction then as long as they stayed out of sight like all decent homeless people should.
Anyway, things are moving on. Google "Occupy Christmas" for next month's fun and games. |

I don't disagree that there is plenty to protest about. Just that I don't see how depriving kids from a relatively poor area the use of their local park sticks it to corporate elite.

A couple of days I saw back to back news stories, one was about there not being enough overnight places for homeless people this winter and the very next one about how the occupiers were being booted out. No dots were joined. |

I don't think occupy vancouver was achieving anything. It's just that most of these people are living on the streets anyway and so have nothing to lose by doing that very thing somewhere other than the DTES for a change.

No dots were joined. Apart from the fact that it would be nice for locals to have their park back for Xmas, I did think that the city should leave these goons chained to the fence in the park until it becomes 20 below. Then I suspect the keys will be found. Witness, protest, whatever the hell you want to call it this fizzled out some time ago. It takes a lot to make Bob Ford look virtuous but this movement is getting there. |
Re: The Occupy Uprising....
The real challenge for any movement seeking to change the financial & political landscape is to present their case to the mainstream without attracting and being overrun by the usual rent-a-crusty crowd.
I have real sympathy with some of their aims, but I'm afraid that if your spokesman has matted hair and a lip-ring, then, sorry, but "I'm out". |

Wicked The occupy movement was a complete failure and perhaps some of those protesters will get a life and hopefully a job and start contributing to society. |
