You need to get to McLeod, but I'd avoid going Sarcee/Glenmore Trail, gryph. It's a bloody nightmare at the moment. (LRT works and 37th St. bridge construction)
Probably best to head into downtown at that time - the traffic will be heading out of town, and you can pick up McLeod downtown and then just keep on it to Okotoks.

Country Hills Blvd to Deerfoot and Deerfoot to Highway 552 then into Okotoks on Highway 2A

By 5:30 on a Friday most of the rush should be over.

Depends where you are in the NW. If you're a fair way north I'd be tempted to try the Country Hills route suggested already. I drive home south along Crowchild from Kensington to Glenmore then 14 St. Crowchild is nearly almost alway fine going south (big queues going north over the river) and Glenmore going east is usually fine also. Where to pick up McLeod would be the issue for me - 14 St can be slow with the lights but I would still probably go 14 St to Anderson then Mcleod otherwise straight to Mcleod from Glenmore.

Thanks guys. I was thinking Deerfoot might be best, but I was unsure the best way to Deerfoot. Thanks for google map for me!!
I find Country hills slow, so am thinking maybe Stoney to Deerfoot may be best?
