Default Number plates

Bit of trivia. But I am curious about the rest of Canada's number plates.

Alberta= Wild Rose Country
British Columbia= Beautiful British Columbia
Saskatchewan= not sure on this one ......... land of endless skies

What do the rest of the provinces have on their number plates?

Have you ever seen one of those wild roses. I think our Alberta plates are boring - should have a bear or something on it - maybe a cup of Timmies

Another question.

In Alberta they only seem to have the number plates on the back of the vehicles. Is that the same all over Canada?

Apparently not, in fact Alberta may be the only province to have a single license plate.

Quebec is back only too.

Ontario is front and rear for cars...sticker on the back plate. Pickups and the like have the sticker on the front plate. Dunno why.

Nah, Newfoundland is the same. (Perhaps for the ease of the countless Newfoundlanders heading west to Fort Mac! ) Number plates are changing here from the flag to the Pitcher Plant which is the new Provincial Logo. Tax dollars well spent then.

Boy was I wrong.

Just had a look in Wikipedia and found that Alberta, Newfoundland and Labrador, the Northwest Territories, Nova Scotia, Nunavut, Prince Edward Island, Quebec, Saskatchewan, and the Yukon all only have rear plates.

Apologies for not checking first.

Can anyone explain why some places went to just the rear plate.

I heard a rumour a number of years ago it was something to do with the change from freon to whatever they use now in auto air conditioning.

Only number plates on the back of cars are required here in Nova Scotia.

Novelty plates can be seen on the front though.

How often do the cops chase cars from the front?

A lot of cars around here have joke/vanity plates on the front that appear to be real German plates. I have absolutely no idea why.
