Come shuck some of North America's best oysters :p on the North Shore, washed down with a glass of excellent local wine, whilst sitting in a hot tub looking out over the ocean. This you can do during our long hot summers or sunny white winters.

Most of our neighbors have pools, that's where everyone spends most of their time in summer, if not on the beach - because we all have a great work/life balance and after all that's why we choose to be here.

Coldest I have seen is -15 and then that is only overnight, by morning it could be 5 degrees and then by the afternoon it could be 12 degrees. We have a saying here if you do not like the weather wait 5 minutes. :D
Across the water (18 miles) on PEI it is often 10 degrees colder. The Northumberland Strait helps keep it warmer. Were we are is a bit of a micro climate that makes for delicious fruits and wine. :p
If you do not like rain avoid June, because that seems to be the only time we get much rain.
Coastal erosion, but not much flooding. Much of the coastline takes the highest tides in the world. If circumstances are right and there is a storm surge at high tide you can get inland flooding, but that is the case anywhere in the world during these times of Global Warming. I have not seen this happen in the 3 years of being here. Floods due to rapid melting snow in some areas, but again just like many places in Canada or after continual rain in the UK. :(

Well I am happy to stay in this delusional state for as long as it lasts :) and the more it warms up the more delusional I will get. Hopefully we will be getting our motor home out over easter and stuffing ourselves with smor's and other such delecassies all washed down with copious ammounts of Guinness.

That sounds like heaven - I'm quite jealous  (Not quite warm enough overnight yet for us to get the tent out and disappear off, and definitely can't afford a motor home!)

Hi Buggalugs

Like the sound of Kamloops. Long hot summers. Have heard there are black widow spiders and rattlesnakes - not so good! Are job prospects good there? Hubby is in financial services. I am hoping to be a lady of leisure. Can see myself sitting by the pool all day (oops I mean cleaning and ironing!) Property seems to be a lot more affordable in Kamloops than Vancouver, but are we as likely to get work?

I am not 100% sure on the financial services side - however I do no we have struggled to get a senior finance officer so there must be a shortage to a certain degree. I will see what I can find out.

Black widows arnt that bad - I have actually had what I suspect was a bite from one of the pesky critters. More dangerous to pets and small children than adults. Also the rattle snake I hear is not that potent up here - although I know lots of people that have lived here all their lives and never seen or heard a rattle snake - while other people see them often - as anything - it depends where you live and what you do.
