One that picked up its own poo, put it in a bag and then into the garbage.

Back to the original question?
I didn't want a dog, hubby casually remarked over Easter lunch the year before we moved here, that when we moved to Canada we'd get a dog - DD was 9 at the time and it wasn's count down to Canada it was countdown to puppy!
I didn't become a dog owner until we lived in Canada, we did loads of research, I knew I wanted something fluffy, I thought I wanted something small. Hubby suggested a Chow, the rest is history.
Our criteria was something fluffy, something that didn't bark much, something that only needed a couple of 30 min walks a day and something laid back. We were spot on with our choice.

We were planning on getting one this year but the time has kinda passed by so we have to wait til next spring (dogs will be living outside and its a bit cruel to get a puppy now this close to winter!)
So my choice was a bit like PP's, something fluffy but big, the oh choice is something that can retrieve stuff thats been shot, so we've settled on an English Springer and a Great Pyranean, good thing about the latter is that they are super good at chasing coyotes away which willl be a godsend at our place!

hahaha, moh's uncle has a Great Pyranees called bear - he is just beautiful, as soon as the coyotes come close he turns, dives over the fence and you can hear him just barking as he runs after them, then there will be silence, then you hear the stand off between dog and coyote / s. Half an hour later he comes back puffed out but happy to have chased them away!!!!!!
