That seems highly organized, especially the poop area. Our problem with fenced area is that someone added ornamental flower beds and buried bulbs in them; now we can't let the dogs out there unattended for fear of them digging up the plants.

It was fine with the Springer as he was trained to go in one 4ft by 8ft area from a pup so whichever house we were in he would do that. The last GS just went wherever he wanted in multiple crouches so thought we may limit the new one somehow.

Typical dog-owner comment, but understandable.

My stepson has two dogs (collie/rottie and lab/rottie). Both rescues from imminent death and both very pleasant, if you like dogs.

Dogs to me are like other people's babies. A quick pat and then hand them back.

I do have a cat (another one rescued from certain death). She was unruly as a kitten, much like a puppy. Now somewhat older, she is very affectionate and follows us around. Somewhat like a dog, really, except that she doesn't crap all over the place and is lousy at fetching sticks.

You might be surprised if you got a cat. Your dogs would (cats tend to become the dominant beast).

Good luck with your new dog, though. Four-legged friends are nice to have, regardless of if they are canine or feline.

Yes Greenhill, another that was looked at recently and started to sway me back to another Springer. We shall see after Saturday.

Another issue is that we are away over Christmas and didn't want to take a pup beforehand and shove him straight into kennels; not ideal when he just getting used to new surroundings.

With the GS litter only ready to pick up the first week of January, and us being back in country Jan 9th, the timing was better with this one.

I think with those Spaniels that they will be 8 weeks old mid Dec and so would be about 12 weeks when we were ready. Some breeders wanted kennelling fees for the additional weeks. The breeder of the GS just said she would hold onto the pup an extra week or so, no worries.

This is how it looks, you can just make out the well head in the pile of rocks at the back.

Reasonably successful trip yesterday. Will be checking them out on final pick up day in January. If all being well, it will be Jan 18th if the pup is ok.

A few quick snaps at 4 weeks.

Update. We have had Cooper for about a month or so now and he is doing well. 10lbs gained in the last few weeks and on target weight wise.

He has now mastered going downstairs, which he initially refused to do ( only up ) so no more carrying to go out.

He is more relaxed than our last GS but still has his moments. He has all the potential to be a great companion and already shadows us.

We had exactly the same rug as yours. Unfortunately our (at that time) puppy turned it into a toilet.

We don't have that rug anymore.

(I think we sold it to some English bloke in NB.)
