Default Myths or not

There are things we've all accepted as true. What past beliefs or stated 'facts' do you now question or what has been exposed as a myth?

I had long believed that Rod Stewart played the Harmonica on Millie's hit "My Boy Lollipop" but I just read this on wiki.

A persistent rumor claims the not yet famous Rod Stewart performed the harmonica solo on the recording[1]; Contrary to legend, the harmonica player was not Rod Stewart but Pete Hogman of The Pete Hogman Blues Band and Hoggie & The Sharpetones. Hogman told us: "The backing for 'My Boy Lollypop' was recorded live in the studio. I played harmonica and Ernest Ranglin played a black Gibson. Several people have claimed to have played the harmonica break but I can promise you it was me, and it was all recorded in London. By the way, Rod Stewart has never claimed to have played that solo, in fact he has said it was me in the Bob Marley life story Catch A Fire."

My world is shattered.

It would be irreparable if I knew what you're talking about.

The first thing that comes to mind is the story that the kids cartoon Captain Pugwash had characters called Master Bates and Seaman Stains I believed that was true for years until someone pointed out it was rubbish

It might not be true but I tell you what, he really does sound like he's saying "Master Bate-r" there.

That if I kept biting my nails, I would get worms. There might be an element of truth about that (thanks mum), but my 7 year old brain thought the nails would turn into worms. Did my head in for years.

Brilliant.

My parents told me the ache in my leg was through lack of sleep - an incentive for me to go to sleep. You just can't trust some parents can you.
