My return to the UK
Hi everyone, sorry it took ,me soooooooo long to let you know how things were going for us, been a long few weeks and getting set up with broad band etc has taken forever.
Well, back to reality....we didnt get a rental in the area i wanted to be in, but its home for now and its central for the town and schools etc.
Ryan (eldest) went to work with OH doing a plumbing apprenticeship and hes doing really well. Totaly different lad now hes working and earning some money.
Darren got work straight away, hes fully booked up for around 6 months so atleast we wont starve.
Aaron and Chloe went straight into school and although poor aarons gone back a year after being in Montessori in Calgary,they,ve made friends and settled in well.
I hated it for the first few weeks, i was in a strange area, couldnt get a job and was having total regrets about leaving Calgary.
Ive found a good job now though in Medical centre as a secretary so that keeps me occupied and off the chocolate bikkies.
Plus points....the food. I went mad in Asda buying all the things we missed, biscuits, sausage rolls, pork pies etc and then i had a huge indian takeaway....mmmmmm...worth every penny
Down sides...i cant drive here in the UK, passed my test in Canada. The wages arent as good here, theres no where to go at weekends and of course theres no Morwenna and Smelly
Seriously though, we,re all fine and making the most of things. Who knows in a year or so we might change our minds and give it another go.I really do hope so, but for now im just happy that everyone else is happy.
The removals were a nightmare and totaly ripped us off so will take a while, financially, to get back on our feet, but watch this space
Good luck to all you guys going through the process of moving at the minute, theres good sides and bad sides to the move but definatley go for it or you,ll always wonder what if?

At a later time, I'd be interested to hear about the shipping back to the UK - who did you use, and why was it so much more expensive? If you average £4,000 for a 20 foot container from UK to Canada - what was the return trip?
Just curious - not planning anything !! Such a shame and leaves a bitter taste, I'm sure.
