My Big Fat Gypsy Wedding

For those of you that may have missed this. Its a documentary on Channel 4 - onviously about gtravellers, weddings etc
As much as it is car crash TV it gives an insight into the travelling community that I knew nothing about.

I had no knowledge about Gypsy culture until I watched this series, and I found it very disturbing. Girls are not told that they can tell a man 'no'..if she does, he is well within his rights to 'grab' her (ie forcefully grab her by her hair/body, drag her to a secluded spot, and do god knows what). Very young girls being forced to care for 5 or 6 children all day, alone, with no one to help her. Kids being taken out of school at 13, and growing up to be completely illiterate adults. Six year olds dressed like little sluts and gyrating like pint-sized pole dancers. I could't believe some of the stuff I saw, and I don't understand why gypsy parents are not forced by the authorities to allow their children to get an education. I'm sure the series did not show everything there is about Gypsy life, thought they did film several gypsy 'camps' in different locations, but what it did show disturbed me greatly.

Theres also one on First Holy Communions which apparently was very amusing. Back in UK we had a big Gypsy congregation who you only saw Christmas Eve, Baptisms, Holy Communions, Weddings and Funerals!
The best story was a little girl in the biggest, fatest white dress that when she received Holy Communion her mother pressed a button to remotely light up the headress she had on!!

There is a catholic mother near and dear to me that would go for that in a heartbeat!

I've seen a couple of episodes.
I'd love to know how much those dresses cost and if they save up their whole lives for one wedding dress.

I was hooked on the first episode and downloaded all subsequent epsiodes the other night. I watched the final show last night.
They (travellers) are a very secretive bunch and my opinion of them has not changed one bit. I find it strange how the female girls dress like whores yet behave like Nuns

3 or 4 of them would come in - 2 would attempt to get you away from your counter by being very in your face and diverting your attention away from the others who were happily stealing all of your testers.
As soon as any of the gypo's would come into the store - the phones on all the counters would ring and security would be telling everyone to be on their guard.
And if you confront them they get veeeeeery abusive.
