The Music/Gigs Thread

Do you sometimes think you could've spent your iTunes gift voucher even more wisely on the essential tunes that you don't have in your collection, or would you like to have some advance knowledge of gigs coming to Toronto/Vancouver/Moncton so that you can be first in the queue for tickets? Well, okay there are internet sites for this but still...

Probably not, and perhaps this thread won't last, but I may be able to tempt a couple of people in >>>> I have one spare ticket for the Rogers Waters "The Wall" gig at Rogers Centre (how apt ...) on June 23th if anyone wants it. It's in the 500 section and I'll flog it for $45.00 which is less than I paid for it ... if anyone's interested. Not sitting by me - you may be pleased to know :) - but not a million miles away. First come, first serve...

Now then, what other gigs are coming up? Who you seeing and where ...? Also, what are people buying on iTunes / mostly listening to on Spotify this week? I just bought lots of 70s tracks because I was bit light there - in case anyone wants some tips. :D

If you live in Vancouver this is a good resource to find out what's coming and when and how tickets are sold.

I was lucky enough to see roger waters tour the wall the night david gilmour performed (may 12th). God what an EPIC concert.
500's aren't bad for that type of concert. main reason being that all the visuals are actually better seen from further back.

That's good to know! It's not bad for the baseball eitehr at $13.00 a throw, but I reckon for Floyd AV it will be awesome!

As it happens this is still available, and for those who may not be too sure the gig is based in Toronto.

Also, getting tickets for First Aid Kit soon and if anyone can get to see the Hamilton-based 'Junior Boys' I recommend it. Excellent sound.

I am going to see Kurt Vile w/Real Estate coming up at KOKO. Also going to see the Warchild gig with Dry the River, The dudes from Blur
and ed sheeran (really NOT into)
I'm also going to see St Vincent, Veronica Falls, and Fanfarlo.
In the last few weeks I have seen:
The Maccabees
Dry the River (Q Sessions)
Yuck

If you are really interested in music properly, check band websites, venue websites, music review websites and plain music websites such as pitchfork, the quietus, etc...songkick which gives basically every listing of bands playing in venues everywhere so long as you have them added to your
directory for a search etc.
Also, and this is just my own opinion, if you have spotify or sqeezebox ect, i would invest in a good pair of headphones like the hd800s and a proper dac, also FLAC format.
That will allow you to listen to the music the way it was meant to be heard. Just a suggestion, obviously.
