Multi-region DVD players
I wonder if someone could answer a question for us. We're hopefully moving to Vancouver in June and wonder if you can buy multi-region dvd players as we want to be able to play UK dvds in Canada?

Yes...we bought a dvd from walmart for about $70, I went on the internet and got a code online - from what I remember I opened the dvd tray typed in a code with the remote and changed it to multi-region...we can now play all our canadian bought dvds along with all the old dvds we shipped over. It was easy peasy.....hope that helps.

We bought a cheap and cheerful Walmart DVD player when we arrived a couple of years ago and it was already region free out of the box, some other Walmart DVD players may need a code.
As a general comment, if you want a region free DVD player, avoid the big name brands such as Pioneer. They can be almost impossible to make region free.

Yeah, my $30 Future Shop player was region-free out of the box, but it's not very good with scratched disks (we borrow quite a few from the library to watch) and screws up playing .avi files from CD-Rs.

We bought a Phillips for about $50 from Walmart last month. We had to download the code to change it to multi region but it was dead easy.

Where do you get these codes from?
I bought a $38 special from Walmart and cannot find a code anywhere. It's a Magnavox BDP170MW8 and if anyone can get me a code I'll send you some virtual beer

That model doesn't seem to be hackable. No hacks for it on any of the usual suspect sites.

Plenty of decent other places to stay though but they are all in town and a short drive to the beach.
We stayed in a self catering family suite at the Comfort Inn for 6 weeks when we first arrived in Canada. It's on page 2 http://www.all-hotels.com/canada/bri...kamloops_1.htm

There is only one Riverfront hotel that I know of but it's on an industrial estate http://www.kamloops.com/riverlandmotel/
