I started to watch Fail Safe from 2000 and it all looked a bit familiar. I wasn't sure if I'd seen it before or I'd seen the 1964 original.

This one was filmed in black and white and it all looked genuinely old.

Very good drama. Particularly remarkable was that it was originally a live TV broadcast. There were a couple of moments where you can imagine parts would have been re-shot had it not been live.

Terrific performances all round and very authentic seeming for 36 years earlier.

Couple of 'fantasy' type movies - not sword, sandals and sorcery.

Waking - can't say much about it without giving the game away. The lead actor is incredibly like a young Jeff Goldblum

Upside Down - more sci-fi than fantasy I thought. Literally an upside down world above the right way up world. Or vice versa  Some nice ideas relating to gravity.

The Assignment. Surgeon takes revenge on the hitman who killed her brother by doing gender reassignment surgery.

Don't see too many movies with that as the plot.

Has it's origins in a graphic novel although the original plan appears to have been a movie. Interesting though.

Yes, just watched it. Finally. On Netflix now.

I'm a sucker for journalist related stuff and war correspondent/photographer in particular.

One I've not seen since the 80s when I caught it on C4 is Circle Of Deceit (Die Fälschung)
I've not found a stream of it anywhere - a genuine one, not one of those pretend ones - except in German with no subs.

It's on Amazon.com streaming but it needs a credit card with a US address. I succumbed and ordered the dvd from amazon.ca

If you like Sam Elliott, watch The Hero

The Limehouse Golem

Not bad, in a Jack the Ripper sort of way.

Elysium

Matt Damon becomes some kind of criminal cyborg with a mission to get up to Elysium, a affluent artificial space habitat orbiting the earth. A bit too much action, but an interesting future reality.

I had been looking forward to it but I was a bit disappointed. Nice to hear Hocus Pocus and Radar Love though. Quite effective.

Thanks for the heads up. The trailer looked weird enough.
