More Cannabis arrests

Cannabis Culture pot shops raided across Canada, Marc and Jodie Emery arrested - CityNews

What a screwed up country we live in. This Gov said they would legalise Cannabis and are continuing to drag their feet to do this.

Meanwhile the police say they will uphold the law as it stands and continue to pay for raids and arrests. After reviewing the many dollars I gave the Gov last year in tax, I can't help but think they are wasting public tax money arresting people for something that should have, and will be soon, a legal activity :sneaky:

The terms that it will be legalized under haven't been decided yet. It's not just a question of saying all cannabis is legal. There are questions of the age of the user, the codification of the drug, the type of cannabis sold, and by whom.

Don't expect open house.

I have no sympathy- I would call them dealers myself-profiteering and on the wrong side of the law- mixed up world in that everyone wants to pollute their brain with toxins but it is ok as they are "natural "

So money well spent then uh !

Let's agree to disagree

BTW I don't smoke the stuff I can't, it constricts arteries and would not benefit me, but if it did I would buy some in a heart beat (inserts clever pun)

I agree. There's considerable evidence that says a young brain, ie under 25 yrs, can be damaged by cannabis. Plus the part of the drug that helps and the part that doesn't need to be defined and doses regulated.

Vancouver police have been taking a "hands off" approach .......

...... so there are different reactions across the country.

I however have no sympathy at all for Marc Emery and his wife .............. thry take it way past what the police will tolerate here, and then cry "We're martyrs. Legalize marijuana" when the crack down comes.

Been hearing about him for far too long, since 1994 here in BC.

It is interesting to note that his origins are in Ontario, specifically London, and that he has been butting heads with the police there since he was a teenager ........... and that it is Toronto police that laid charges.

He doesn't do things quietly ........ daring the police to do something. Well, they have .... after his very public attendance at the opening of one of the shops in Toronto recently

Meanwhile, others are working quietly to get the legislation passed so those who need marijuana medically can get the help they need.

I've seen people who have reacted very favourably to marijuana for help with nausea during chemotherapy, and with pain from arthritis.

In my eyes, more study is needed, but I believe there is a need for legalising marijuana for medicinal purposes ..... there are times when I feel that I would try it to ease pain!!

Other uses, especially selling to youngsters .......... nah!

Dope and seeking publicity is usually a recipe for incarceration. I heard there's a pot shop in Regina now where you can just go in and buy some, but I haven't gone yet. I looked in the paper and there's no news of a bust so I guess that isn't one of Emery's. Marijuana certainly isn't the wonder drug some claim it to be but being able to get the right strains for different purposes is important, and something the black market can't do everywhere, so it's time to see some guidelines and get the show on the road.

It sounds like a situation where the police are dammed if they do, dammed if they don't. If the shops aren't yet legal, and there is not clear timeline, then it's hard to fault their actions. Probably trying to keep a 'lid' on it.

Re: More Cannabis arrests

They're going to have to figure out how to tax the sellers, lay down the guidelines for access, supply, quality, security, and implement it. I'd be very surprised if someone hasn't been working on this for some time. I'm not sure what to say about the pun... looked through all the emoticons..... inadequate.
The police need an accurate road-side test to enforce impaired driving laws as well, and I'm not sure if they're equipped with that yet.

A friend of mine who works in the lobbyist industry got targeted by this woman Jodie Emery on Twitter for no real reason just last week.

I have zero sympathy. Marijuana smokers are not some punished minority persecuted by the justice system as the Emery's like to martyr themselves.

The reality is they are running an illegal operation. When the legislation is finalised it will no doubt have stiff regulation like the sale of alcohol.

What on earth are they smoking to assume that they will suddenly be an acceptable mode of purchase past law being passed and regulation set up?

By the way mate there is a more low key dispensary down my street if you need some?

I personally don't do the stuff but C.A.F.E certainly doesn't make any money selling it's coffee.

No thanks pal, having issues of the heart it's not advisable for me to partake in the smoking of such horrific such things

I just feel that my tax $$ are being wasted clamping down on something that will become legal within a few months.

Cocaine is legal in some circumstances. Should police stop cracking down on the selling of that too?
