Exactly.
This is why I think that Starbucks brewed coffee is gross. It's burnt. It tastes like it's been sitting on the burner for hours even when freshly made. I hate the place anyway but that is my main reason for not getting a coffee there... they can't even do a plain ol' coffee correctly. Speaks volumes.
Ooooo errr... perhaps I should switch to decaf.

If you're going to get poncy-posh, at least spell it right. That's cafetiere (excuse the lack of accents on the e's).
Despite the name, this method is virtually never used in France, where drip-brewing (filter coffee to Brits and NoAms) is used at home and espresso is most common in bars and restaurants.
At least you didn't suggest putting the milk in first.
