Isn't all the milk here generally longer pasteurized or Purefilter type stuff? It does last for ages - 2-3 weeks after the date on it has not been uncommon in our construction site fridges!
As for UHT in the UK, nobody in their right mind uses that stuff. Granted you can buy slabs of it in the supermarkets, but most people don't.... According to Wikipedia, only 8% of milk sold in the UK is UHT. The target of 90% was set in 2008, but was abandoned. Good job too. It tastes horrible. |

Funnily enough I quite like the taste of UHT, but since I only really have it in coffee, it's a bit academic.
On the bread front I always have rotis or some other flat bread in the drawer, as they seem to last forever.
