While I am impressed by the respect afforded by calling me Sir, I am rather miffed.

I think he is still alive and well and living at times in Canada with Diana Krall.

That's a relief. Does he still wear those white jumpsuits with the rhinestones?

Ahem. Jackson had multiple plastic surgeries with the objective of looking like a white Diana Ross. You can't get freakier than that.

I didn't think his records were very good; formulaic elevator soul. He was entertaining for his antics but I could have done without hearing him.

Nobody forced you to listen, IMHO his music was, until recent years, amazing and he will always be remebered for that more than anything else. If it wasn't to your tastes then fine, each to their own, I couldn't care less, I wasn't a huge fan but I appreciate his talent for what it was and I think you'll find yourselves in the minority but like I said thats my opinion.

I suppose I could always have taken the stairs in his era, even then I think he was pretty much unavoidable. Like Gary Glitter.

I suspect they'll both be remembered for their proclivities longs after the songs are forgotten.

There's a difference Gary Glitter was convicted and proved to be scum, I don't doubt Jacko was wierd and did things that just weren't right but I don't think he belongs in Glitter's league as to music, I can't honestly remember anything G Glitter did, nobody will mourn his passing as to Jacko just turn the radio or TV on, its all you hear, his music will be rembered forever, just like Elvis wether you want it to or not, sorry but thats the way it is!! ;)

Every sporting event in North America is played to the sounds of Gary Glitter and Queen. Among nonces Gary Glitter is the Americas' most heard composer. Besides that his name is a synonym for a body part, that ought to put it in common use for a hundred years or so. No one is ever said to "like it up the Michael". Jackson does, of course, deserve to have something named for him, some sort of plastic aid perhaps.

Re: Michael Jackson has just died

Jackson was odd, the poor guy never really had a childhood and seemed to be making up for it as an adult. Personally although weird by everyday standards I suspect his interest in children really was innocent. He made some great tunes and videos in his day (some years ago now), but Im not sure how much better humanity is for his presence, he was simply a (very good) entertainer with a gigantic ego ("King of Pop" indeed)

I cant help but think that his death has spared him some blushes over his forthcoming shows...at 50 that was a lot of work to be trying to pull off. Another sad case of the famous becoming divorced from reality (if he ever was in contact with it) and being surrounded by "friends" who were not actually looking out for his best interests.

Were Shakespeare still around I expect he could probably weave some half decent tragedy together from MJs life.

I sort of feel sorry for the life Michael Jacksons early fame and talent pushed him into, Glitter on the other hand was clearly a paedo, although there is probably some background story to that too...

Glitter's only claim to fame musically was Rock and Roll Part II a very popular piece of arena music until his sexual proclivities became common knowledge.

Agree totally Iaink... my teenage sons today were saying that those who attain great celebrity are almost all troubled and damaged individuals. MJ was no exception. It's the videos of those early pre-surgery performances (right up to the great Quincy Jones collaborations when he only had his first nose-job) that get me and make me feel so sad for what came afterwards.

The toxicology report will no doubt confirm the much-reported drug addictions. Then we can expect the various children who were paid off to start hawking their stories of sex games and Jesus Juice. But it's not exactly the passing of Jesus Christ here....

....you might want to enable the "safe search" option first;):unsure:
