On the downside we did get the largest snow dump in 78 years back in January that got people all worked up because they couldn't walk on the uncleared pathways and the City took 3 days to get a grip on it.
That's what we got in January too. 1 full day of snow, one of the largest snow falls in a day the town has had, took 2 days to clear and about a week to melt.

Haven't seen any snow since that day.

With that storm, if you went 20 mins south on the highway, there was no snow, our town was the point where the rain turned to snow apparently.

Yes, they're saying 'messy' weekend, 10 cms of 'something' for us, might be rain, might be snow, or freezing pellets....they'll go quick though. we have + 11 on Friday tomorrow!!! Back to chilly at the weekend though.

Spring IS here, I've seen my first Mustang, and heard my first Harley Davidson...

What is the snow line? Some kind of weather forecast that delineates where snow is still possible ?

Yes, it's on the weather network...a line for expected rain, temp, snow etc.

I think they've had quite a lot in Toronto too, someone I know in Barrie had to shovel their deck....

I was on another Scout Camp weekend this past weekend, north and west of Toronto (between Acton and Guelph). There was still a little bit of snow on the down-sun side of the trees, but from Friday evening through Sunday lunchtime there were mostly clear skies (so much so I have a rather sunburnt nose...). I didn't dig down to the frost line, but the surface of the ground was thawed at least to tentpeg depth. It was still chilly overnight, though. Friday it went down to about -4, Saturday night was a bit warmer (around 0) but with a little more moisture in the air it actually felt colder - the famous English-style "oh, but it's such a damp cold."

The week of alternating heavy rain, drizzle and fog has seen off the last of the snow, save for the secluded spots in the woods. A co-worker was trying to use a post hole auger at the weekend (he lives in one of the few spots here where such a device would work) and reports that the ground more than 6 inches down is still pretty frozen.

Grass fires are a problem in and around Calgary at the moment.

We had to call 911 at 5:00 a.m. this morning, as a field close to our property was on fire.

It's snowing thickly again - enough to turn the grass white.

I saw the forecast this morning. Pretty much everywhere in Canada looks lovely today except the Maritimes. Snow 5- 10 cm forecast for Nova Scotia/N Brunswick; rain, sleet and general yuk for the rest. I really feel for you guys. I am willing some sunshine up your way.

I was thinking of starting a new thread for you entitled "Is this winter 2015 come early?".

Or an extension of 2014.

Is there a winter equivalent of an Indian Summer?
