Are any of you watchers? I maybe hooked...I hope this isn't assimilation
I think it's just that my husband and kid do Radio Controlled modelism on Sunday night, so I'm bored on my own.
'We' Maritimers are well represented. We had a man from Fredericton! A chap from Halifax and a quite ghastly woman from Moncton. Interesting that we had 'local' dishes too - Poutine at Guelph Uni, Tourtiere - and some rather nice views of Toronto.
I am hoping that a man called Christopher wins, for no other reason than he actually seems relatively normal and pleasant. If you haven't seen it yet give it a try...

We watch it religiously and Hells Kitchen. My GFs mum knows Line (Ghastly woman from Moncton lol) I think that she is a caricature of Northern NB
I want Sabrina to win it.
I like Micheal and Alvin as judges but I think that Claudio is a douche nozzle!!!

As someone who finds cooking to be very dull, I was surprised when I couldn't stop watching it. Watching a bunch of cooks get creative in a cut-throat environment...It's just very addictive...
I was pleasantly surprised to see the number of Maritimers competing this year. Last year, going just from memory, it was mostly folks from Ontario and BC. I think there was maybe one NB guy.
Hoping Line wins or at least gets to the finale just because she entertains me. 'Less lip service, more chopping!'
Can't stand Micheal(competitor, not the judge). Hope he and his mustache twirl into elimination soon.
Like all three judges in the Canadian edition. Annoyance with the U.S. judges is why I no longer watch the U.S. version. The best of all 'Masterchef' is 'Masterchef Australia' though. Just finished watching Season 3 in Project Free Tv. More respect between the cooks.

We watch the UK one, it's much more pleasant. The American and Candisn ones are too aggressive and backbiting.

I am quite ridiculously pleased that we have such a good showing in this bit of the world...we so often get overlooked (can't help it though, i don't like Line). We need to celebrate the Eastern Provinces food wise...we have so very much to offer...(off you go boys and girls

I think my son would say "respect" and I don't "diss" him for it...well done Mrs HH (she knows the way to a man's heart no doubt!) a few years back I would have loved to be on it...and I might have had the guts to go for it.
Thank you MillieF, she done really well for herself back in the UK and gave up a lot to give it a go over on the other side of the pond.

That could be because despite having amazing ingredients available the locals for the most part make a complete hash of it!!
I thought that with all of the "French culture" here that there would be a fantastic selection of Cafes, Bistros, Patisseries etc......
The bottom fell out of that bucket 15 minutes after I landed

My GF is Acadian and in her words "We are more like the Americans than the French when it comes to culture and cuisine "

Mrs B, her kids and her mum always said they'd put me forward for it.
I can cook, but I do use lots of 'cheats' because I really can't be bothered hunting down obscure herbs and things that then sit in the cupboard for years.
Give me a nice 'cook-in' jar or mix any day. There are plenty around and they're not needlessly expensive.
Buy a Classico Alfredo sauce when they're $2 (mix it with some cream of mushroom if you find the Alfredo sauce too rich) and cook whatever you want.
Shrimp and Salmon works wonderfully well.

But I know the US and Australian versions are like the Canadian one so I think I'm in the minority! Thankfully iplayer keeps me in the loop with the UK one

Totally agree... I love the UK Masterchef, and when I saw there was a Canadian one I thought 'great!'. I struggled through the first series, and have given up on the current one after about 4 episodes. It's far too aggressive and vindictive.. keeping people in because you know you can beat them later and so on. The UK version is much more about the growth of the cooks on the show, which I love. I want the winner to be the winner because they were the best chef, not because they played the game best! I also can't stand all the product placement... your mystery box containing *Kraft Peanut Butter* cue a spiel from a judge on how great Kraft Peanut Butter is, and then an advert for the stuff shortly after. Urgh.

Hell's Kitchen I do watch just for the ridiculousness factor of it all, though the more recent seasons I think there's actually only 20 minutes of program, which they then spread out over 45 minutes, every commercial break has a ridiculous repeat, and every commercial break includes a cliffhanger. Super irritating. Even the drama factor has gone downhill!
That said, I will always remember Ramsay yelling at a women to "get your tits off my pass!" Hahahaha. Brilliant.
