If CP and marriage rights are equal, then it's a church issue and I don't see why governments get involved with matters relating to imaginary beings in the sky.

It's even surprising that people in the gay community wants to embrace religion, when so many religions overtly or covertly exclude them.

Please excuse my ignorance, but what is the fundamental difference? What can't you do with a CP than you can with a marriage?

I also never understood when MP's abstain from voting ? If they don't vote, what's the point in having them there, isn't that their raison d'etre ? Anyone who abstains from voting should be sacked.

Why can't you just be a gay person who believes in god? Or a stright person, or a bit of both.

Why does the whole religion thing come into it.

I agree with the others about not being in a club that can't stand what you do.

Then again Henry 8th went and made his own club, so i suppose a new one could and probably will be formed that deviates from the 'rules' of the others so as to suit the new members.

Gotta love it hey

There could be a situation where their constituents want to vote one way, but their conscience is heavily toward the other way, in which case they could abstain.

Ah I see, in which case they no longer adequately represent their constituents and therefore should resign.

Aren't they bound to represent their constituents though, not just eff off and do their own thing when it suits them??????????

The problem you've got here is that this forum is a bit on the atheist side. So apart from stupidly naming it something different, we don't really get the difference between the two.
