How do visitors to the Canada - Maple Leaf Forum feel about Marmite.

It's gross.

Love it. Just had Marmite and Cheddar Sarnie for lunch. Mrs AX is similarly addicted.

You can't be 'not fussed'. You have to love it or hate it (not that I would ever be influenced by advertising!)

I can't make it myself though, my spreading ability is v. poor. I have to rely on my loving husband to get the correct amount evenly across the slice. It's an art I tell ya

my grandmother used to mix the marmite into her butter on the side of her plate before spreading the mixture on her toast. I always thought that was cheating - half the fun (as a small boy) was the gamble of having a mouthful with no marmite at all or one with too much.

Anyone else like "gentleman's relish" - that anchovy paste that comes in little white dishes that warn you to "use sparingly" in the blurb on the label? Mmmmmm

I've never tried it. Knowing what it is certainly doesn't make me want to either. What does it taste like?

Does the marmite you get here taste any different than whats available back in the old country?

Oh yes, done that before. It tastes different though - not enough kick!!

My sister used to layer butter, marmite, more butter, to get the perfect taste (she probably has horrendous cholesterol levels now though )

you have to persevere, like many good things its an acquired taste. I'm thinking gin, garlic, curry, bourbon, coffee, dark chocolate

Pull yourself together woman and get used to the stuff!!

I don't have a problem with any of the above, but there is no acquiring a taste for marmite.
