Re: Marmite and PG Tips in the container?
We shipped loads of Robinsons' squash in our container. We hid it inside a pine blanket box!
Our container was opened and searched, but it was all ok. They aren't looking for your small amount of food or squash that clearly is for your own use. We were told they are more concerned about arms, drugs and larger amounts of illegal imports. In our case my son's golf clubs must have looked like guns!! But it was all ok. Although as other posters have said, we can buy tea, marmite, squash and English baked beans here now. I paid $1.99 for a tin of beans at Fairway Market yesterday and thought that wasn't to much of a rip off. |

Ooo, charlottyb - where can you get squash in Victoria? Been here for 3 years and didn't even know you couldn't get it ...then wanted something to help me get more water down my neck and wondered where the heck the squash was! :D
They have weird assortments though like Imperial leather soap, not sure that I would crave that!! Happy Shopping! |

 Well, we shipped our container when still on TWPs so the beans arrived in Feb! I daren't look at how many are left in the stash.
They've become a delicacy, a treat to be savoured and not to be eaten lightly.. If we REALLY like someone we might even serve them a few spoonfuls when they come to dinner. And TWO tins were wrapped up for a Brit friend for his birthday. Generous or what? |

I find the UK beans rather weak and insipid after exposure to the more robust Canadian variety. One's palate becomes corrupt or acclimatised depending on your view.

I find if you put treacle, gravy granules and pig fat into English beans, they taste similar to the Canadian ones.
Have they tried this on mythbusters yet? |

Hi
On a visit a couple of years ago for Christmas, I took 6 large Christmas puddings to give as gifts........put them in my hand luggage....it went through x-ray and showed up like bombs. So everything out of the holdall and explanations about Christmas puds......they were okay when I explained what they were....we still laugh about it today. Stef

Does anyone have experience of customs problems with fave foods packed in their container? I don't think I want to emigrate any more if I can't take Marmite...:( |
