Marmite in GTA and vicinity
Marmite: anyone know where i can get it in any of the major superstores in GTA or vicinity rather than the overpriced "British goods" small stores?

Loblaws (or whatever Loblaws is called on your block). In the baking aisle, high shelf. Also Amazon.

It used to be more common at every grocery store, Superstore, Walmart etc. but haven't seen it in a while.

As has been said already, most supermarkets sell it but it's in the baking aisle. Its the same stuff as is sold in the British stores, made in England but without any added B vitamins. Canada doesn't approve of that kind of thing.

Sobey's (or the stores they own, such as Safeway, etc) usually carry it ........... in the baking aisle!

Which is strange because Health Canada *require* B vitamins to be added to vegan/vegetarian substitute meat products, which is a big part of why Quorn isn't in Canada (they refuse to fortify it).

Re: Marmite in GTA and vicinity
Looking into a little deeper, its not that Canada is against foods being enriched with vitamins and minerals, it's just like many countries the rules are different, and Marmite appears not to fall within the categories that can be enriched.
Apparently the Canadian version may also contain different ingridients as well, so its not an exact copy of the UK, either way its vile to my nose so it never made it into my mouth the one time my wife tried to get me to try it.....

Irn Bru if I recall had to have a Canadian formuation as well as the UK version was (is still?) using a color additive called Ponceau 4R which is banned in Canada and the US (appears also Norway and possibly Finland).

Marmite flavoured beer launched in the UK recently. Think I'll stick to having it on toast.

Marmite apparently being touted as a cure for covid because of the vitamins it contains.
