Default Mac help

Hi everyone,

Now you know I am a recent Mac convert and I know this isn't a computer help forum but I know lots of you guys have Mac and I would appreciate your help!!

I have an external Hard Drive which stores my music, video and photo files and I now plugged in from my PC to my mac and was rejigging some stuff around and it wont let me change the contents of my drive. I have a feeling you need it to be mac compatible or something like that but still can't seem to find the answer online. I read something about FAT32 stuff but it made my brain hurt somewhat.

Can anyone help me pweeease, pweety pweease with sugar on top

Can you explain more specifically what you did, and what you now can or can't do? Could you access the hard drive from your Mac?

yes I can access it and it was when I was with in my drive and then wanted to drop a season of a TV show into it. It said it wasn't allowed to modify the drive. I can access the drive and play my music etc.. but it wouldn't let me do this.

Do you know what File System the drive is using? If I recall correctly, Macs can read NTFS file systems, but not write to them. In Mac OS X if you go to Finder, right-click (or Ctrl-click) on the drive and select "Get Info" - it should tell you where it says "Format:" what the file system is. It should probably be something like "FAT32", "FAT" or "NTFS".

You can write to your drive if you install these two pieces of software:

http://macfuse.googlecode.com/files/...Core-0.1.7.dmg
http://hem.bredband.net/unsound/ntfs...catacombae.dmg

oh, and if you buy any standard 2+ button USB mouse you can right-click to your heart's content.

Apparently I can configure my pad to work as a second button, I haven't figured it out yet. They showed me in the shop.

If you havent been able to solve your problem love, there is a lab section of the forum where you can pose your question. There are lots of IT experts both Macs and PCs and Im sure you can find the help you need there.

Dont worry if you get a little ribbing, its all part of the territory and meant in good fun!
