London, without hesitation, Great Health Care, affordable Real Estate, you can live in town or buy a small rural property.
$200/$250,000 will get you a nice home, not a palace, but a nice place in a decent area.

Have you looked into getting trained up here for dental nursing? I think there's quite a process involved
Article from "Vital" hereWe're very happy here (LaSalle, a whopping 5mths in!) - but I'd be pretty wary about coming here with no job. It ticks the boxes for us - close to US for shopping, close to large airport with good connections and budget airlines, access to sports and theatre, cheap property, lots of places to drive for weekends away (Upper Peninsula, Chicago, Toronto, Kentucky...) - but it's all about what kind of things you are looking for.
I haven't been to London so I can't compare at all.

London is based upon the University, Life Insurance, Hospitals, and Professionals, Windsor on the Car Industry.
I lived in the area for many years, London is definitely the better choice.

Now now ,
No bickering around the newbie LOL.
Thanks to all of you for the quick replies.
Biiiink,I do like the look of Windsor but as you say the lack of jobs is a big worry,I do plan to upgrade my DN qualifications and have already been in touch with the Ontario dental board but cannot sit the exam until I get there.
Howard,
Thanks for your comments on London,OH works in a large hospital in Sothampton so you may well be right about being somewhere with more prospects and our 14 year old daughter is demanding civilisation.
Anyhow i'm sure to have lots more questions as I improve.
Thanks Hels

We are heading for LaSalle end of Nov, so we are biased on Windsor, but we have relatives around and like you have teenagers who needs have to be addressed.

I think Windsor gives up the best of both worlds.

Your just down the road from my family in Leeds! Small world!
We too like the sound of Windsor, are you going out with work set up or are you winging it??Good luck either way.

But ideally he will find something independent, but having the safety net is nice. Long term, he wants to work for a builder of 12 month-ish, then set up on his own (he's a bricklayer).
I probably will do something with under 5's, as my youngest doesn't start school for a while and I'm not sure how counselling skills will transfer - for future research.

How far off are you from going?

We will be heading for LaSalle too once CIC get moving. Two lots of friends already successfully settled there with good jobs not directly connected to the motor industry. Great affordable housing, swimming pools, air con, hot summers. We have been for long stays with them in Autumn and Summer, a bit of a mosquito problem where we were, but nothing a bit of sensible spray and gadgets can't sort out. We are going back there for 3 weeks Dec/Jan so hoping to see snow. Biiiiink thinks it is a nice place to live.....so good luck, who knows we may fall over each others accents in Zehrs in the future.
Kind regards

Its a small world, we left LaSalle in 2003 went home and have now been living in Calgary since 2006. Before read on we really enjoyed the place but................
Windsor lives in the shadow of Detroit (as it literally does) and its economy is very very closely linked to the US car industry. If Chrysler, Ford or GM sneezes Windsor catches the cold. The strong Canadian dollar will not be celebrated in Windsor, I suspect the casino and racetrack isn't as busy as usual either. Without the car industry and the lucrative US trade Windsor will bust, don't be fooled by cheap real estate there is a good reason for this.
I did hear that Windsor had / has the worst air quality of any city in Canada not a good title to hold.
I've been to London, Ont a couple of times its about 2 hours up the road towards Toronto. Seems like a nice place, I remember a lot of construction going on which is a good sign. Ideal place to base yourself as its close to the golden horseshoe and Toronto. We especially liked Kitchener (not sure of spelling)

You may see snow but it won't stick around for very long, especially in the City. That area of SW Ontario is the mildest east of the rockies in the winter. Once you get north of London, especially in the traditional lake effect snow belts, you'll see more snow.

Maybe Not, last year in the Blue Mountains we had Zero Snow until early January, all the Ski Hills were closed, workers were laid off.
Today, rainy and about 17 Celsius.
I LOVE THE SNOW, get the skiis , the sled, the snow shoes etc.
