I'm not sure how to word this but isn't it fitting that the headlines are swamped with talk of terrorism today, and maybe the horror and chatter will overshadow a certain funeral taking place in Northern Ireland. I'd rather we remember PC Keith Palmer today than that other, er, person. :(

What disgusted me was what Donald Trump's son tweeted about the London mayor. No condolences or anything.

Did Donald Trump even send any 'deepest sympathy' message?

This Is his only comment regarding London

His son reacted to Mayor Khan

“London mayor says terror attacks ‘part and parcel’ of living in a major city,” the Independent’s headline breathlessly announced.

Well not quite what he said, plus it was 6 months ago whereas the infant Trump was making it appear as if the mayor said it yesterday.

ETA - ah, I see you amended it

I think Trump Jr was trying to say that we should try and break this awful cycle instead of just accepting that these attacks are now part of living in a big city. :(

I see comments all over photos in social media of those outraged that the gunman was on a stretcher. I imagine that in addition to medics being required to protect life regardless of how they feel, the police would have wanted that scumbug to survive for questioning at the very least.

Also, they are martyrs, they give up their life for their cause. They shouldnt be allowed that but instead they should have to live the uncomfortable life of max security - just my two cents....

shame he didnt make it

What I found praiseworthy about the immediate police response was the restrained and controlled use of firearms and I can only suggest that this results from careful and intensive training. A maximum of four shots put the man down and made the situation safe.
I am prompted to compare this with a number of shootings undertaken by US policemen, one awful comparison was reported in 2015. https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/...7-times-police

UK Police was formed on the principle of "policing by consent" rather than by force.

When I occasionally catch a glimpse of a UK cop show, I am still amazed that this principle still exists today. No guns, people placed under arrest without handcuffs and shoved into the back of a Police car with no prisoner partition.
