Here is a shocker for ya...Gary Glitter was into music, look at where that got him

Woooo, so was Jimmy Saville... Burn the musicians, burn them all...

Is that really the best argument you can come up with?

Im guessing you didnt google the benefit yet.

Canada post deliver my mail to a box a mile from my house, I occasionaly go and pick it up. That's as much teamwork as should reasonably be necessary as far as Im concerned.

Please point me to exactly where I said I played both at the same time? You obviously think you are being funny, but this is just dry

There are other things that have benefits man....does that mean it's a justification to have those programs in schools when budget is tight? No wonder you haven't been able to convince the kids school

The budget wouldn't be quite so tight if they hadnt spunked half a billion on a new stadium for West Ham (or whoever gets it in the end) in the east end.... that was kind of the initial point;)

Convince the kids school? No idea what you are smoking there. My kids school has a decent music program, although that was more of a happy coincidence of the move as far as we were concerned. Some of the music programs around here are outstanding. For example, Campbellford High Schools success is unreal considering the size of the place.

Why is anyone surprised that the olympics cost money. They always cost money, and they always lose money and the organizers always lie about it. Everyone knows this right?

The wink at the end of a statement normally means it is said tongue in cheek. One mans humour is another mans insult.

It's a matter of demand and supply, surely you took Economics at some point? School music program just isn't 'sexy enough' to appeal to a wider audience. As a non-Hammers fan I could care less if they get it in the end, but at the end of the day I am a Londoner and happy to see the stadium in London ;)

I think I can get use this ignore thing, seeing that some elements are at it again trying to poke for a reaction.

I never did economics. not even home economics. I was too busy doing real subjects:D

School Music is a soft target, as you say, its not sexy. Thats why its important to highlight the many positive benefits that spill over into other areas beyond just learning about music or how to play an instrument, and to try and defend the programs from the accountants axe

Wouldnt you rather see the stadium in London actually being used for something rather than standing idle. Isnt that kind of the point of a stadium. Dont want it to turn into the North Korean Hotel of Doom. That was the original gist of this thread after all.

Given that West Ham have been in the premiership for all but a few of the last 20 years, with all the money that goes with that, I just hope they have to pay a decent market rate for their new stadium, as most of the other clubs have had to do, rather than getting it at the tax payers expense.

If your idea of 'real subjects' is carpentary and music then kudos to you. I was also busy with Chemistry, Maths, Physics, Add maths that got me my engineering degree, but had the opportunity to take Econ when I firts got into secondary school.

As someone mentioned above, why is it a shocker that the olympics, Euro, world cup, IAAF meets cost money? Not worth getting your knickers in a twist over, and when was the last time you paid tax there anyway?

Looks like STEM is being devalued one post at a time. I think I'll go off and learn about Bach or something.
