Labour pains?????

Labour pains?????
Have been back from having a curry with my son and pregnant DIL for about an hour now. Just got a phone call that she is having "funny" pains that last for 4 minutes. "Is she in labour mum?"
God I wish I knew. She has been having braxton hicks quite often but who knows? Anyway they are gonna call me in half an hour and see if anything else has happened . I am her birthing partner so this could be a long night, well, heres hoping.

How pregnant is she? I don't remember labour pains lasting as long as 4 minutes (tho it was a long time ago for me!)... I think it's how far apart they are that matters.
In any case I'd say call the hospital if they are still continuing ..... they'll probably say bring her in for a check. If nothings really happening they'll send her home again.

Labour pains shouldn't last 4 mins! Usually around 30 seconds long.
From what I recall from labour with my children, if the pains are irregular and she can still talk or move through them, then it's not labour. But when they get regular, increase in intensity and she can no longer talk through them, that's the time to get to hospital.

Get this to try this website, I used it when I thought I was just having BHs, but as they were coming thick and fast I started to think maybe it was labour.... when the pain got so bad I was crying, I knew it was time to go to hospital!!!

Had drugs in labour with the first 2 kids and then nothing with the third.....
Afterwards i thought wow that was easy, why did i bother having the drugs with the first 2
Plus a couple of hours later i was allowed out with the 3rd as no drugs
Good luck and come back and tell us how it went, would love to be a birth partner, dont fancy the birth bit again, i have done my bit now

I just had gas-and-air, no drugs, but I think I still got foul-mouthed as I remember the nurse telling hubby not to mind me, "it's just the entonox" ..... and he won't tell me what I said!!!!!
