Is it just me or.....?
Ok, so we've been in London Ontario for 2 months and we're really enjoying it
But I can't help but notice that EVERYTHING takes longer in Canada, lol.
I know that if your running round doing errands that takes longer because you have to drive everywhere, everywhere is further apart and you end up chatting to people more along your way. Shopping takes longer because the supermarkets are enormous.
All that I understand but...potatoes(!?)...they seem to take waaaaay longer to roast, boil and bake here. And eggs - they seem to take a few more minutes to boil. My kettle - that too seems to take longer than in the UK. Has anyone else noticed this or am I going a bit nuts?

OP...do you think you are reading too much into all this, ala "it's all psychological" because you are new to the country? I mean London Ontario is not exactly a "large" city

Did you get a gas cooker? I switched our electric to a gas one (a stipulation I made when buying the house) and the gas takes so much longer to do anything. Next cooker will be one of those sooper dooper new thingies - can't even think what they are called now, sun stroke from yesterday is affecting my thought processes, nothing to do with the wine at all
Our kettle takes forever and a day, you get used to it all after a while.

My induction stove brings a 2.5qt saucepan of water to boil in under 2 minutes. You can feel it suck the energy out of BC Hydro.

Have you thought about getting your water checked? It's possible it might have a much lower boiling point than regular UK water.
The water runs at a higher frequency here too, I think, which might also be something to do with it.

In addition microwave ovens don't work so well because of course the vibration frequencies of D2O are quite different to those of H2O.
It's elementary really.

Feeling your pain with the sun stroke Got the worst sun burn I've ever had in my life 2 weeks ago and it's still all red and itchy. Wine of course is renowned for it's skin soothing properties ;o) Just don't self medicate too much!

We got an electric one and we had a gas one in the UK so I thought it might be that but the electric hobs seems to heat up pretty fast. Oh I'd like an induction one they sound fab!

The worst thing, tomorrow I have to wear 'FALL' wear to work and it's still supposed to be hot, I may break the rules, I don't want to layer up.
Anyhoo back to cookers... I thought it was to do with altitude, but I think your lower than me (a quick google confirms that), so moving to Ontario won't solve that particular quandry
