They have been very calm about the whole thing. For one I would never leave my kids alone like that, we'd either taken them with us or eat in our room. I would be absolutely beside myself if something like that had ever happened to one of my kids when they were small. It's the not knowing. I hope they get some closure. Maybe the parents are taking something to keep them calm?

I cant for the life of me understand why they left their kids at all who in there right minds goes out and leaves young children alone.I dont care what reason they have to offer NO ONE in their right minds leaves young children alone.its the child I feel for not the mother or father sorry but no way would we ever leave our kids alone to go for a meal and leave our kids.there is no excuse what so ever

No one has even gone into the child protection concerns that have been raised with them leaving such young children on their own.

I think that they are devastated by their loss and the knowlege that they left Madeleine alone. Anyone looks creepy if you think they are a murderer. Try looking at them as if they are parents coping with losing their child and think how you would feel if the same had happened to you.

i can remember one of the family members talking about not judging them for leaving their children alone, she said "come on we have all done it" How dare she say that and compare me to them :curse:. I would never take my children on holiday only to leave them alone in a hotel while my husband and i went out eating and drinking. Never mind them being abducted, what if one of them fell and banged their head or turned the bath on and fell in. the risks are endless. whether they are guilty of the murder god only knows, but they are guilty of neglect. My thoughts go out to that little girl

I never said I thought they were murderers... I have been reading abut the cased on telegraph online. They have said so many odd things,I looked at their website with its tacky online shop and Gerrys blog.. no mention of Madeleine there, just a series of entries about how he had been for a run, enjoyed a swim with friends etc etc.
I understand that they left the children every night of the holiday, even venturing further than the Tapas Bar.
They justify their actions as "niave".
Come on, these are professional educated people, you dont need to be a Dr to know that a child can choke in minutes. It seems to be the norm amongst their friends, another guy (a dr, left the bar for an hour to attend to his toddler daughter, who was vomiting, he then returned to the bar and left her again!) Who the hell does that.
Apparently the twins had to be woken by the police and slept through the whole thing of people frantically searching the apt.
The police thought they may have been drugged.
Why did G.McCann refuse to alow them to have a urine test. I am wondering if they were doping up the kids to go out and a death has occurred. I just think that G. McCann knows an awful lot more than he's saying.
I hate that he they are trawling around the world, meeting the Pope etc. Leaving those twins again, who must be confused and bewildered. I pray that the child is found but I am thinking that they have created a giant smoke screen. Apparently Madeleine had a history of sleep walking. yet they left her in an unlocked apt. (in case of fire) What the hell was she supposed to do, get herself and the twins out of bed and to the designated fire area.... please.
The McCanns stated that they were CERTAIN that Madeleine could/would not have wandered off. How can they be certain, unless they knew she would be unable to wake up. The whole thing is bizarre.Some staff at the resort were quoted to say that they werent even aware that the couple even had kids as all their time was spent in the creche.
At the very least this couple are selfish beyond belief. I think they should be accountable for the wilful neglect of those kids. It seems that they are immune to this being Drs.
A couple were arrested in Florida last year and charged with neglect when they left their kid(s) to go downstairs in the hotel to watch a firework display. Why not the McCanns.
Apparently an upstairs neighbour heard Madeleine crying for her dad for 1hr 45 mins the night before the "abduction".
I wonder if they are trying to preserve their professions, their lifestyle. their freedom and the custody of the twins by covering up a death which may have occurred due to misadventure, if reported they would know that they would be held culpable.
Could be wrong.. but I cannot feel sorry for these people. There was FREE babysitting services, there is no justification for leaving the kids alone. The bar was across a pool area, around a corner and behind a wall. Over 400 m away.

News organisations being filled with cynics there has been much discussion at my workplace along these lines over the last few months... including speculation as to whether either of the McCann parents may have had anything to do with the "disappearance" of their daughter. Some of the theories are potentially defamatory if repeated so I can't air them here. However, I can remind you of the verifiable statistic that most cases of child abuse/murder are committed by family members, not strangers.

From day one, my OH was scathing about the McCann's negligence in leaving such young children alone in their room. In some countries it would count as an indictable offence. Common sense alone should prevent most parents from leaving their children unattended when asleep. What if a child has a nightmare, chokes or vomits in their sleep, or wanders off? Most parents just wouldn't risk it, especially given the very young ages of the three McCann children. Would you? Me neither.

Ive thought that for a long time.

I am aware of families I have come across during my career where the children have been put on the "at risk" register in the UK because they were found out leaving children alone. Why has this not happened to their other children as they did just that, and clearly on more than 1 occasion.

I guarantee that if they had been a working class couple on benefits living in a council house, social services would have been all over them!

Surely such people are not working class.
