Life and death is bigger than politics. Here's to a man who loved his country. Very shocking, very sad. |

There's widespread delight in this office so I suppose he was a sort of Canadian Thatcher.
Disagree with his views or political agenda all you want, but no one should ever be delighted over someone's passing. |

When Gerry Adams knocks off I'll almost certainly be pleased. |

I've never heard of him but why are all Canadian politicians fat?

In my opinion, it doesn't matter which party you support, there should never be glee over someone's death. He was a man who worked for his country. He was a father of three boys. He's someone's neighbour and someone's husband and someone's friend. He's still a person who had a life.

I thought he was a pretty decent politician, which is a rare thing indeed, you can't say he was corrupt although his support of Rob Ford did him no favours.
I did find it slightly creepy that he opposed CPP reform and died a few months before he could have claimed it. |

James Flaherty was on medication - prednisone (a steroid) for a serious skin condition called bullous pemphigoid. Side effects of predinisone include bloating.
