Jeremy Beadle - Dead at 59.
#3
I never liked him on TV, but a friend worked on a low-budget movie where they convinced him to turn up for a couple of hours just so they could kill him in the movie, so he clearly wasn't too far up his own backside like so many TV 'personalities'.
Of course this whole death thing may just be another of his practical jokes

From The Guardian and BBC websites:
Beadle raised funds for Children with Leukaemia and is estimated to have generated more than £100m for the charity, for which he was made a MBE in 2001.
In recent years, Beadle had been plagued by ill health, losing a kidney to cancer in 2004. A year later he was diagnosed with leukaemia, but he shrugged off the illness, saying it was "business as usual".
Mr Beadle, who was born in Hackney, east London, leaves behind his wife Sue, daughters Cassie and Bonnie, and his stepchildren Leo and Claire.
I wasn't keen on the fella...but why the thoughtless animosity for someone you didn't even know?
Apparently you have a reputation beyond repute. How?

Wow, I didn't even know he was an MBE, let alone that he'd helped raise that much money for charity. Seems like he was a good chap under all that TV nonsense.

Remembering some of the practical jokes he used to play on the general public back in the early 80's he was lucky to walk away from them unscathed. Off screen however, it would appear he put a great deal of effort into charity work from which many seriously ill children have benefited.
It's a very sad day for his family and the charity he supported. Novo, making a throw away comment about someone you clearly know next to nothing about just because he was a 'media personality' was really uncalled for. If it was meant in jest, the comment fell short of being funny and was in bad taste. If the comment was a serious one, then its clearly a sad day for BE as well to have such a disrespectful comment there for all to see.
I never liked Jeremy Beadle the tv personality either, but I respect what he has achieved off screen and my sympathies go out to his family.

I LOVED Game for a Laugh . . . . I was only 10 though.
Recently though I've started liking a lot of the 'old school' tv personalities, it's partly ironic, partly rose-tinted glasses.
Beadle
Edmonds
Chegwin
Stan & Hilda
Lynch
Walker
Porter
Hunniford (Phwaor!)
The guy who did bullseye
Much better than all these reality celebs . . . . I think I have a problem with media people that are younger than me.
Anyway, Beadle raised a ton of cash for charity so he was a good guy.
I've been on one of his FaceBook supporters groups for a year or so now.

Perhaps, but the guy did do a lot for other people so if you don't respect him for anything else you should at least respect him for that.

I did once imagine me with Gloria and Carol . . . . No, I've said too much.
I've just Googled Gloria(that sounds dirty), and although she's aging well, I don't think I'll be reviving my crush on her . . . . oh what the hell - why not!
