I brought in groceries on almost every trip, no problems. Meat and vegetables would be a problem.

I bring in stilton every time I go to the UK as 'some' dairy products are allowed

just declare it they'll tell you if there is an issue and they'll be quite polite about it too..

That's interesting and provoked me to look on the CBSA website which directed me to inspection.gc.ca . It appears you can bring in upto 20kg of cheese if it has a value of $20 or less. Now, I know cheese is cheaper in the UK, but one imagines a whole stilton for example would cost rather more than $20. How does one get around that? (http://www.beaware.gc.ca/english/brirape.shtml refers)

My aunt lives just around the corner from one of the dairies/farms that make the Stilton..
and its what you pay for it that counts not its value in Canada :D

So a half round of stiltion about 1kg is approx $20

Howver they've never botherd the few times I've brought in a full round, granted we travel as a group of 4 so that might be why?

It would take me at least 5 years to eat all that crap, thats if I would even bother to eat it which I doubt. It just baffles me why any one would crave for such things:confused::confused:

It baffles me why you bother to post just to put her down for it.

Lots of people crave stuff. You and I are not among them but who are we to judge.

We (my son in particular) get through jars of the stuff. It's on my weekly shopping list! Both our local Safeways and Extra Foods stock it.

$3.77 in Walmart when I bought there last time - nearly $8 in our local Sobeys which is a block nearer:eek:

We brought a huge jar of Marmite from the UK and it's sitting in the back of the pantry hardly touched. Unfortunately, or fortunately, the kids have now gone right off it, prefering vile sickly stuff like Marshmallow Fluff on their toast.

I only ever eat it on toast when feeling hungover, which explains why there's so much left in the jar ;)

Enjoy all that chocolate :)

The things I can make out in that picture are Fox's biscuits, Cadbury's fingers and Maltesers, all of which I can get at the local Loblaw's/Canadian Superstore.

And not Canadian knock-offs either, imported but in Canadian packaging.

I don't honestly have a problem with the British food situation in Calgary, I can't think of anything I could get in the UK I can't get here (hmm, okay Thornton's truffles). Might be a bit more of a hassle sometimes.

My problem with it is more a lack of fresh food, everything is frozen and shipped in from God knows how far away.

How do you know they're not Canadian - is there something I'm missing? I've bought Maltesers from RCSS, they've never tasted like the British ones. Same for Cadbury Buttons, even though they say they're made in the UK :(
