It's pretty hot out there
Just walked to work and I have to say I have never experienced heat like that. I was in shorts/t-shirt and sandals and I felt for every poor bugger in a suit.

Re: It's pretty hot out there
My guess is that it was 30ish (humidex) first thing this morning at home (the closest weather station is at the PEI ferry terminal on the strait where it's always a lot cooler, it was 26 there at 7am).
Overbearing heat, bug bites, hurricanes. I don't really mind any of it, but, anyone considering moving here should adopt a realistic impression of these summertime realities...

Re: It's pretty hot out there
Already 28 here and a humidex of 37. Forecast for this afternoon is 34, with humidex at 46.
I'm not so worried about the heat because I have AC. I am far more concerned about the severe thunderstorm warning. Storms in this neck of the woods are impressive at best and scary at worst. The one that blew through last Sunday evening trashed the Ottawa Blues Festival, put a number of people in hospital and left me without power until the wee hours.

Re: It's pretty hot out there
The Mrs and small AX are visiting her sister in Ottawa in a couple of weeks. She's very much hoping that things have cooled down a little by then. I tell her that she'll be OK as her sister & fiancee have just bought a new house with AC and are in that honeymoon period where they think AC is wonderful and haven't seen the hydro bill yet.

It was 28C driving the kid to camp this morning. Usually in the summer I have breakfast on the deck. This morning it was muggy out there at 7, back into the AC for me.
High here is "only" supposed to be 34 today. Earlier in the week it was forecast at 38, with a humidex pushing 50. Humidex today is supposed to be mid 40s. Thats nasty enough for me. We have shut down all the heat producing equipment in the plant today... a bit restrictive when your business is ceramics!

Our outside thermometer only goes to 120. The needle is bouncing on the end. I think it's lovely. In a country which is mainly frozen wasteland where, for much of the year, one can only venture outside to unfreeze locks and pipes or to dig a path to the road, one should celebrate the rare good days.

It's 34.9 with a humidex of 49 here in Hamilton - and that's from the weather station on the "mountain" - downtown with the buildings retaining and reflecting the heat, it certainly feels even hotter. That's the highest temperature (at the moment) showing in the area.
