Re: It's cold... brrrrrrr
I fear we're just stoking the fire of the Toronto wimps theory here.
It is a bit nippy, but the people in Regina or Winnipeg or wherever must be chortling themselves warm with all this. I think I'll go for a stroll. |

One year my kids called for an ambulance for a prostitute frozen to their school steps (Jarvis and College). They were cynical enough even then to make a bunch of freebie jokes. It's a cold country, this. |

Meanwhile I just read in the guardian that a man has been charged with the murder of his identical twin.
I hope they have the right one.:rofl: |

Nay-Bob! Au contraire, we sympathize, understanding that it's not normal for your area. Same thing when the left coast gets 2' of snow and becomes paralyzed because they don't have the plows for it, or your ice storm, (which no one expects). Western scorn for TO and environs is indeed an institution, but the weather isn't a contributing factor.

Re: It's cold... brrrrrrr
The news reports a 29 yo NB woman has been found frozen to death 150m from her house. This is the tragic outcome of extreme weather like this. Here's hoping there are no more casualties.
Oops, after checking on regional news I find this story is 2 days old, I just hadn't heard about it till it was on the national tonight. Every year this happens, also people get lost or stuck and leave their vehicles and don't survive. Stay safe, everyone. |

Last year we had at least four cases round here that I recall of people just going missing and not being found till spring. Very nasty. |
Re: It's cold... brrrrrrr
Crashes everywhere this am, 25 car pile up on the Gardener I am hearing on the radio. Apparently the salt don't work in this cold.
Why not just slow down a bit ? |

Yup I hate that !!
The rescue services said they had trouble just trying to walk on the Gardener. OMG, it's because it's a raised bridge and ices up bad. |
Re: It's cold... brrrrrrr
More bad weather on the way, sigh.
Heavy snow for SW Ontario (spreading to other regions) on Sunday leading to more snow or freezing rain and bitterly cold winds Monday (with blowing snow). Oh joy. |

I feel so sorry for pedestrians, and those waiting for buses...they don't really have any alternative...I don't know, it may be better in your neck of the woods, but here in Fredericton, Sherpa Tensing couldn't navigate some of our snow banks. The intersection in the car today are scary.

The main roads around here are pretty clear but circumnavigating my driveway which is ice and snow covered is another matter, lol. Stay safe :) |
