Default Its almost time

3 days and counting before my lad and his family head out to Edmonton. His new boss has now told him he has a couple of weeks instead of one to settle in before he starts work.

Fingers crossed that all is in order when he arrives on Saturday

All the best to him.

Would that every parent had your approach.

Sending all best wishes to your son. I hope it is not too long before you can come out and visit him.

I want the best for him and his family, of course we will miss them all but with the internet the world is a smaller place.

Saying goodbye on Saturday morning at Heathrow may be difficult (but not as difficult as when he left twice for Iraq).

I have a distraction on the way home as I am calling in at Wycombe to watch my local footy club (Bradford City) play. If they loose then the 4 hour trip will seem twice as long.

I seem to drill it in to them that they must make a great effort to get out and meet new people as their lives could easily be ruled by their young baby, so don't be so shocked when you get more posts from me.

Plans are afoot hopefully later next year as my youngest is sitting his GCSE's so the priority will be backing him.

There are plenty of takers wanting to visit them so we don't want to crowd them.

I myself had very supportive parents and to be honest with you I now have a much better relationship with them than I ever had in the past.

I think they are just proud to see one of their three boys get a nice start to life...I have two older siblings and I don't think I need to tell you that they just can not move on with their lives right now because they simply can not afford renting or a mortgage so they are just saving up all they can whilst they live at home (26 & 28 years old I think)

It is always hard I know because I have now watched my mum and dad cry twice at the airport but they do understand why. So it makes my choice all the easier.

As you said with the internet (and cheap canadian phone tariffs) the world is a much smaller place and I generally talk to them at least once a week.

I totally agree regarding relationships. Its been very hard since he left the army, ploughing all his money into retraining only to see the building trade plummet.

Its funny that really I can only blame myself for him going as we used to chat about when he was on exercise in Alberta and how he loved the place. Next thing 50 emails went out and 2 job offers. The rest is history

I know it won't be easy but he has been through a lot worse times his young bride is also an independent person. As long as they get out a join things time will fly.

With regards to cheap calls, nothing as cheap as nowt to both land line and mobiles, I like that bit

Now looking for a mother and baby group in Edmonton
